Dogs are man’s best friend for a reason…… they are great hikers and love the outdoors. So bring out your friend for a dog friendly hike through the park. Please bring a leash, plenty of water, and a happy dog for this 1.3-mile, round trip, hike in the beautiful Sonoran Desert on the Goldmine & Littleleaf Trails.

Enjoy the warm comfort of the visitor center and watch this exciting movie on our huge projector screen. But this is no ordinary movie theater. You are encouraged to bring snacks/lunch, pillows/blankets and make yourself super comfy. Our resident animals love movie day and will be outstanding company as they watch the movie with you, from inside their enclosures of course. Stay for one movie or watch them both. Rated G (suitable for all ages).

Find The Ranger

Somewhere on the San Tan Trail Ranger Adam will be exploring the desert. Test your skills and see if you can track him down. When you find him, ask him a question or just say hi. Ranger Adam will be waiting to answer your questions and show you all the unique desert wildlife he has spotted at the park. Please bring plenty of water.

All About Javelina 

I saw a Desert Pig, my neighbor told me it was a Wild Hog, and the zoo called it a Peccary; what is it? The javelina, or collard peccary, has been mistaken for many animals and has quite the reputation in Arizona. But this out of place, desert creature is quite remarkable and will have you snorting with excitement. Join us inside the Nature Center for an exciting talk on these misunderstood mammals and pick up a few tips on how to spot them in the park.
