Source: www.telegraph.co.ukA gecko licks the morning dew off its eyeballs. This gecko is found on coastal sand dunes in Namibia. The nocturnal reptiles collect water on their eyeballs in the early morning when a mist bank descends as cool coastal air hits warm desert air. Then they lick it off to have a drink. It took photographer Isak Pretorius three days in to get the licking picture, following gecko tracks across the dunes through the mist.

Please bring a leash, plenty of water, and a happy dog for this 1.3-mile, round trip, hike in the beautiful Sonoran Desert on the Goldmine & Littleleaf Trails.

Find The Ranger

Somewhere on the San Tan Trail Ranger Adam will be exploring the desert. Test your skills and see if you can track him down. When you find him, ask him a question or just say hi. Ranger Adam will be waiting to answer your questions and show you all the unique desert wildlife he has spotted at the park. Please bring plenty of water.

All About Javelina 

I saw a Desert Pig, my neighbor told me it was a Wild Hog, and the zoo called it a Peccary; what is it? The javelina, or collard peccary, has been mistaken for many animals and has quite the reputation in Arizona. But this out of place, desert creature is quite remarkable and will have you snorting with excitement. Join us inside the Nature Center for an exciting talk on these misunderstood mammals and pick up a few tips on how to spot them in the park.
